 What Numbers Go Together
  Learning your times tables and number families (page 2 of 3)

Let's do another set of numbers:

3, 5, 15

What are four ways we can put these numbers together?

Check out these pictures:

Here's the 15:

15 pentagon

What does this picture give us?

15 pentagons split into 3 sets of 5 pentagons

We get two things!

3x5=15

and

15/5=3

Look at the colors and think about it!!
Remember to read what these things mean...

3x5=15

 means "3 chunks of 5"

15/5=3  means "How many chunks of 5 are in 15?"

How else can we put these numbers together?

3, 5, 15

Here's the 15 again:

15 circles

What does this picture give us?

15 circles split into 5 sets of 3 circles

We get two things!

5x3=15

and

15/3=5

Look at the colors and think about it!!
Remember to read what these things mean...

5x3=15

 means "5 chunks of 3"

15/3=5  means "How many chunks of 3 are in 15?"

OK, now let's take the colors away and see what we came up with!

Here are the numbers:

3, 5, 15

We can put them together four different ways!

3x5=15 15/5=3
5x3=15 15/3=5
